Quick answer

Stellar Plus and Stellar Business include AutoBackup; the entry Stellar plan does not. Start with Plus if its limits fit your account. Compare Business if you need additional backup headroom. Keep a separate copy whichever package you choose.

What AutoBackup adds to a hosting plan

Namecheap includes AutoBackup with Stellar Plus and Stellar Business. Its product page advertises access to six daily, three weekly and five monthly copies, with restore and download options. That history can help when an error is discovered after several days, rather than immediately.

The advertised coverage includes account files, databases, email accounts and settings. Check which dates actually exist in your own dashboard; a retention description does not establish that a particular historical copy is present. See the AutoBackup feature page.

Stellar: plan your own recovery routine

Namecheap separates its internal server backups from a customer’s responsibility to keep usable copies. Do not treat the cheapest tier as a complete recovery plan. A basic blog can still use an independent backup workflow, but someone needs to configure it, check it and know how to restore it.

Decide where that copy will live and how you will retrieve it if the hosting account becomes inaccessible. Keep the required database export alongside the website files. A folder containing only images and themes cannot recreate the articles, settings and other database content of a typical WordPress site.

Compare the total effort with moving to a tier that includes a convenient restore interface. Saving a little on hosting may be reasonable when you already maintain dependable backups; it is less attractive when the saving means nobody checks recovery at all.

Stellar Plus limits: check storage and inodes

Namecheap’s server-backup guide documents a 25 GB backup threshold and a 200,000-inode condition for Stellar Plus AutoBackup. It says new backups will not be created when the stated limits are reached until files are removed. The same guide states unlimited AutoBackup storage for Stellar Business. See the current backup limits.

An inode count is a count of filesystem objects, so many small files can matter even when disk use looks modest. Old cache files, local backup archives and unused installations are sensible places to investigate. Take care to identify ownership before removing anything; an unfamiliar folder may still serve a live site.

Do not interpret an AutoBackup allowance as unlimited hosting capacity. Website storage, resource usage and other account limits remain separate checks. Ask support about your actual usage and proposed workload before changing plans.

How to check and restore an AutoBackup copy

Open your hosting cPanel and locate AutoBackup. Review the available dates and backup contents before selecting a recovery action. Namecheap’s AutoBackup walkthrough describes its interface and available restore or download operations. Use the operation appropriate to the item you need rather than assuming every restore should replace the entire account.

  1. Identify when the problem first appeared and which files or database records are affected.
  2. Save a fresh copy of the current state before overwriting data.
  3. Check whether the chosen restore point predates the problem.
  4. Confirm the scope, then follow the supported restore procedure.
  5. Test login, key pages, forms and recent business data afterward.

For a live store, pause and reconcile orders before replacing a database. A restore point from yesterday may also remove legitimate purchases or account changes made since then. If you cannot separate those records safely, involve the developer or support person responsible for the site.

A backup schedule should reflect what changes

A mostly static service website and an active store do not need the same recovery schedule. Set the interval around how much new information the business can afford to lose. A weekly copy might miss several days of publishing; a daily copy can still miss hours of orders.

Before a major theme update, plugin change or migration, create an additional recovery point. Keep a short change log with the time and the action taken. This makes choosing a restore point easier when several changes occurred close together.

Test recovery on a safe copy when practical. Check representative pages and actual business functions, not only the home page. A successful download confirms that you have a file; a successful test restore provides stronger evidence that the file is useful.

Before Black Friday: compare recovery, not just discounts

Write down the hosting term, current cart total, renewal charge and any separate backup service you need. Evaluate the same period for each plan. This article does not promise a particular sale or assume an unverified discount is available.

If you are already paying for a working independent backup service, account for that when comparing tiers. AutoBackup may add convenience, but overlapping services only help when they have a clear purpose and someone checks them.

Frequently asked questions

Does Stellar include AutoBackup?

Namecheap lists AutoBackup for Stellar Plus and Stellar Business. Stellar customers should maintain their own backup routine and check available support options.

Can a hosting backup replace my independent copy?

Keep a separate usable copy outside the hosting account so recovery does not depend entirely on access to one provider.

Does unlimited backup storage mean unlimited hosting?

No. The backup allowance is separate from the hosting account’s storage, resource and usage conditions.

Should I restore the whole account after one broken plugin?

Identify the affected component first. A broad restore can overwrite unrelated changes, including newer database records. Choose the supported recovery scope carefully.

Choose a plan with a recovery process you can use

Shortlist the package that fits your account, confirm its backup limits and keep an independent copy.
